Heavy-psych luminaries and founders of Austin's Levitation festival. The Black Angels are an American psychedelic rock band from Austin, Texas, formed in 2004. Taking their name from the Velvet Underground's \"The Black Angel's Death Song,\" the group has become a standard-bearer for modern neo-psychedelia and garage rock. The band is also well known for co-founding the Reverberation Appreciation Society and the long-running Austin Psych Fest (now known as Levitation). Their music, characterized by dark tones and fuzzy dirges, has been featured extensively in film, television, and video games, including The Last of Us Part II and Grand Theft Auto V.
