Gritty psychedelic garage rock and soul from the Pacific Northwest. Formed in 2009 by Danny Lee Blackwell, Night Beats is a psychedelic garage rock project that emerged from the Seattle music scene. Named after Sam Cooke’s 1963 album Night Beat, the group filters 1960s R&B, soul, and surf rock through a gritty, fuzz-drenched lens. The project has evolved into a primary vehicle for Blackwell’s songwriting, featuring collaborations with members of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Black Angels. With a discography spanning labels like Heavenly Recordings and Fuzz Club, Night Beats maintains a prolific output of "Outlaw R&B" that bridges the gap between classic Texas psych and modern garage rock revivalism.
