About
Rose City Band is the celebrated project of acclaimed guitarist and vocalist Ripley Johnson. Emerging from Portland, Oregon, the ensemble crafts a distinct blend of space-age country and timeless psychedelic rock, characterized by lush melodies and a laid-back, "front-porch" approach to songwriting.
The band’s sound is defined by the intricate interplay between Johnson’s silky guitar solos and Barry Walker’s supple pedal steel stylings. Since their self-titled debut in 2019, they have consistently released works that balance upbeat desert-drive rhythms with introspective, atmospheric textures, earning critical acclaim from outlets like AllMusic, Uncut, and Mojo.
