About
Black Mountain is a Canadian psychedelic rock band formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2004. Led by Stephen McBean, the group emerged from the ashes of Jerk With a Bomb and quickly gained international attention for their blend of stoner rock, space rock, and progressive influences. Their self-titled 2005 debut was released to critical acclaim on the Jagjaguwar label, even leading to a three-week North American tour opening for Coldplay.\n\nOver the following decades, the band solidified their reputation as torchbearers of heavy, atmospheric rock with a series of celebrated LPs including 'In the Future' (2008), 'Wilderness Heart' (2010), and 'Destroyer' (2019). The ensemble is known for its shifting membership and dual-vocal arrangements, frequently pairing McBean’s grit with Amber Webber’s soaring melodies over a foundation of vintage-leaning synthesizers and heavy guitar riffs.
