Formed in Detroit in 1986, The Gories are a foundational garage punk trio credited with being among the first of their era to weave overt blues influences into a raw, stripped-back sound. The band famously features a lineup of two guitars and drums, with no bass player, consisting of Mick Collins, Dan Kroha, and Peggy O'Neill. After releasing three influential albums—including Houserockin' and the Alex Chilton-produced I Know You Fine, but How You Doin'—the group disbanded in 1992. They remained inactive for nearly two decades before reuniting in 2009 for international touring. Their legacy as pioneers of the Detroit garage rock revival remains cemented through their primal recordings and the subsequent work of its members in bands like The Dirtbombs and Demolition Doll Rods.
