Formed in 2004 by Collin Hegna of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Federale is a Portland-based ensemble known for their cinematic sound. The group draws deep inspiration from 1960s and 70s European soundtracks, specifically the Spaghetti Western and Giallo scores popularized by composers like Ennio Morricone. Originally an instrumental project, the band evolved to incorporate vocals and operatic elements in later releases. Beyond their studio albums, they have become notable contributors to film, recently composing the soundtrack for Ana Lily Amirpour’s 'Mona Lisa And The Blood Moon'.
